When my wife was pregnant she had gold stones I ask for the FMLA they told me i was not coverd for my wifes pregnancy. At the time I was 1 year 1/2 half working with vistar/vsa of ontario,Also after my wife had the baby 2 months later. My daughter got sick so we took her to the clinic and her doctor made me a letter to take her to the children emergency room in Long Beach Memorial Hospital right away. I miss 4 days of work(when i miss those days i call the wharehouse manager and he told me not worry that i was geting no pionts)when i return back they gave me 6 points and a termination warning even tho i had all the paper work of the hospital and her doctor special note saying the reason i miss work. After all this they tried to give me the fmla form after a told them that i went to the web site of LA labor law.

I suggest that you apply for an FMLA to cover you for future potential absences due to your sick daughter. Unfortunately, it will not apply to your absence retroactively.

I also suggest that you do what you can to to work as scheduled. Other than FMLA, you do not have other protections.

Let me know if you have other questions.
