Some college kids are in their apartment drinking. The city police show up and arrest everyone who has been drinking for public intox. They are all ages 18 to 20. There is one kid there who is age 21 and he is arrested for public intox and also distributing alcohol to minors. His bond is of course set higher so at the moment is still in jail. He did not purchase any of the alcohol. The kids who live in the apt. had acquired it from someplace else. Any advice for this kid?

btw this kid is on his own and won't receive help from parents. He won't be able to afford a decent lawyer. They did all have designated drivers there with them (cops sent the ones who hadn't been drinking home). They were all inside the apartment and not outside while drinking.

Yes. Get a lawyer.

Just found out more info. The kids were all inside at this party. The cops opened the door and walked in. Made all the kids go outside and then arrested them for public intox. Sounds like entrapment to me.

File a motion for discovery. Some cops have body cams and I have found that more cops are audio recording on their own if the department isn't willing to get the car cams.

The motion for Discovery will tell you an awful lot.
