I just spoke to the BCIS National Service Center help line and this is
what they told me, I just wanted to run it by all of you guys for your
input --

(I am a U.S. citizen and I'm filing for adjustment of status for my
K-1 alien fiancee, now wife.)

1. The Arlington, Virginia, immigration office allows us to file all
this stuff in person together. We don't have to mail it to the Vermont
Service Center.

2. All I need is

-- I-485 Adjustment of status ($255)
-- $50 for fingerprints
-- G-325A (just one for my wife, not another one for me)
-- I-765 work authorization ($120)

3. I don't need to submit another I-864, because I gave her one, which
she submitted to the consulate at her visa interview.

4. Since she had a full physical and vaccinations in conjunction with
her visa application in India, she doesn't need to get a new I-693
(Medical Examination) and she also does *not* need a vaccination
supplement, because the information on vaccinations that she had done
will be in the packet along with everything else that the BCIS has in
its possession.

5. Don't file originals of anything, just copies. They may ask for the
originals later at the interview.

1. We told you to use the local District Office, not a Service Center,
2 days ago.



2. She only needs the I-765 if she wants to work, or if she wants to get
a SSN and hasn't done so already.



She also needs an I-131 for Advance Parole if she will want to leave
and re-enter the US while waiting for her AOS to be completed.



3. The Arlington office may feel differently. Or they may not.

We went through Arlington:

1. If you are going to file in person, get there EARLY, like 5 am or
so.

2. We were a K1 and Arlington wanted a G-325A for me (USC) as well
as photos of me. It just wasn't worth the hassle to argue with
them about this. I think they tried this too on another filer
just recently.

3. You will need to submit the I-864 with the I-485 paperwork. They
wanted a new afidavit of support from us, besides the I-134 we
submitted to the Consulate for the visa.

4. My husband did not have to get a new medical for the AOS interview.
