Actually this post is for my Mother who was released from her job today. My wife & I have been in a custody case for my son for the past few months. During the trial, my mother's boss came to testify against us, because of what my mother had been telling her about the case. She felt as though every child should be with it's mother regardless of circumstance. My mother, who works with approximately 5-6 people had been friends with the co-workers and her boss for over 3 years. We won the court case anyway, but the next day at my mother's work, she was verbally beaten and told by her boss that we should not have gotten custody of my child. After two weeks of complete isolation from the co-workers...my mother was fired today. No reason was given other than "some of the agents don't want to deal with you". When my mother asked for specifics...she was told to "figure it out". She is now devastated, and obviously in need of employment.

Please Help!

What happened to your mother is horrible and I am sorry.
Her best bet now, is to file for unemployment IMMEDIATELY since it is not retroactive, but starts the week it is FILED.
Then, she should make sure her Resume is up to date as soon as she "reroups", starting looking for new employment. Make sure she does NOT mention any bad feelings or cirumstances of a personal nature while job hunting.

While her firing was unfair, it was not illegal in that it was not based on discrimination, i.e. age, sex, creed, etc.
Best wishes and let me know if you have further questions.
Sue
