What state are you in? Workers compensation is regulated by the state.

If I may, my opinion is that Florida's unemployment and workers compensation systems are not the country's best. Their workers compensation system is so stressed that many insurers won't issue policies in Florida. As a result, those that are doing business in Florida are extremely aggressive in fighting off claims.

Florida's website on workers compensation is not very helpful either. Your best bet is to contact the state itself to get answers to your questions. Their website is at: http://www.floridajobs.org/awifaqs/unemployment.htm
