I work for a non-profit catholic charity and they do not offer unemployment. They told me that during my interview but they also said they never laid anyone off in the 80 years they have been established.
Times are rough now and donations are down, layoffs are about to happen and I'm 5 months pregnant. I'm in a vulnerable state right now because they do not offer maternity leave either. I will be taking 2 months without pay in September. I can easily see them telling me not to come back. They do not offer FLMA because they have fewer than 50 employees, they really don't offer much except health insurance.
My question is; is they’re a fund for employees who work for employers that do not contribute to unemployment?
They may lay me off now but I think they would wait until I'm out.
Thank you in advance for your response.
