Is there a time period in which you must take your lunch period? This is assuming that it is undefined by my work schedule (which it is).

Or said another way, am I required to take lunch at the 12 pm hour or is it allowed to be taken at say 4pm? I do return to duty after and continue to work.

There is no Maryland law that even requires meal periods for adult employees at all. So, unless you are a minor, the employer can make you take your lunch whenever they like, or not at all.
