i work in low voltage industry. over the last several months i have only been getting 25 to 30 hours per week. i was hired on as a full time employee 8 years ago. a new operations manager was hired on and since then i have been only getting more like part time wages. within the last 3 weeks 4 new employees have been hired on and have been receiving 40+ hours per week. when i ask why i get the response that we are a construction company. can a company treat employees like this? there is a handful of us in this position and no one knows what to do.sounds like discrimination but not sure who to contact.

It may be "discrimination", but current employees are not a protected class, so it isn't illegal discrimination.

Unless you have a bona fide employment contract or CBA that guarantees you a certain number of hours, the employer can give new hires full-time hours while reducing the hours of existing employees. I'm not saying it's fair either, but it isn't illegal.

You can file for partial unemployment benefits.
