We have a lease signed until 7/31/2009 and were told by the apartment management that we couldn't break it. I don't see anything in the signed lease agreement about that, but it's worded so no one can understand what it says. Anyways, my fiance and I bought a house and gave management more than 60 days notice. I understand that we signed a contract and are responsible for the rent until either the lease is up or until someone else rents the unit. My problem is that they took our keys, so now we have to pay for an apartment we don't even have access to. Is this legal for management to do, or can I not pay rent since we can't even enter the premises of what we're supposed to be paying for?
