Dear All,

I moved out of my previous apartment (it's a unit in a private house) one week ago and the landlords (a couple) did walk-through with me the day when I moved out. I tried my best to clean the room and there was no any obvious stain in the room. The landlords seemed pretty satisfied with the condition and promised me to send me the secruity deposit within one week. This morning, I recieved a phone call from their daughter and son saying that I need to do extra cleaning for the carpet and re-painting for some spots on the wall. They claim that according to the lease they have three weeks to send back the deposit (it's true) and their parents didn't notice that there was some faint stain on the carpet and wall until some people went to see the property and pointed out. I think the faint stain is due to normal tear & wear and I did a lot of work to remove it. If it was really some problem, the landlords would have pointed out to me during the walk-through.

I'm wondering whether it is a correct thing for the landlords to ask for extra care one week after the walk-through, as the walk-through is supposed to make the landlord and tenant agree on the condition AT the time of moving out and if there's anything to take care of, it should be clearly pointed out during the walk-through.

Thanks for any thoughts.
