If A Ca. Hourly Employee Who Works Mon-thur, 9 Hours Per Day And Takes Fri. Off As Pto, Are We Required To Pay Him Overtime For Mon-thurs. Even Though He Did Not Physically Work 40 Hours?

Probably, as California has a law that requires payment of overtime for hours worked over 8 in a day. (Federal law requires payment of overtime after 40 hours in a week. Since California's law is more generous than the federal law, California law supercedes federal law.)

hi i currently work between 30 &40 hrs a week.I live in California and at my job everyone is going to be required to work 8 hrs on thanksgiving.My boss has told me are pay is the same as a regular day.But I was told by someone that on holidays you recieve time and a half.So my question is am i entiled to that under california state law

There isn't any law in California that requires an employer to pay holiday premiums for those working on the holiday. You can refer to the following state of California website for information about holiday pay in California: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Holidays.htm
