I would like to know if there is any law that requires your employer to give you a unpaid lunch break. I am currently working for an employer that does not have a time for his employees to take lunch. And we work 8 to 9 hours a day. Just wanted to know was he able to do that.

Federal law does not require lunch breaks. While some states require lunch breaks, Maryland is not one of them (unless you are a minor).

In spite of not being required to do so, many employers realize the benefits of giving their employees a rest period. The benefits can range from improved safety records to higher morale.

Let me know if you have any questions.
