I work for a city in northern californiaa I have been there for approximately 7 years. I was injured in my previous posistion and was reassigned to my current positioin. I feel my employer is harrassing me. I was accused of misconduct last year around september. two people with whom i do not work brought forth two different complaints against me, both of a pretty serious nature. The accusations were brought to my attention in early october 08, I denied these accusations and after 15 of the people that work around me and know me much better than my accusers wrote letters on my behalf and offered to testify on my behalf I was informed in november that the director of my department was recommending that i be fired immediately. On january 8th I had a hearing with the dirrector of my department, HR and my union rep. after presenting even more evidence showing that i was not guilty and severely damaging the credibility of one of my accusers, I still have not received an answer from my employer as to their decision to fire me or dismiss the charges. just last friday I was contacted by HR by phone. I was informed that i had to come in to the HR office for another interview regarding another allegation regarding my conduct at my workstation without giving me an answer on the previous accussatons. keep in mind I was removed from my workstation in november when i was informed that the director wanted me fired. I have always done my job and kept to myself but i feel that it is unfair that they are coming after me again. they have refused to interview any of my supporters, people who would not risk their reputation. I dont feel my union is very strong in representing me. My rep seems overwhelmed. any advise from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what the accusations were, or why you think the employer has to interview "your supporters", but there is nothing in the LAW that is going to require the employer reinstate you, terminate you, or anything else. Regarding the investigations, the employer is may be required to conduct one (depending on the type of accusation), but you don't get to tell them who they must talk to. Your union contract appears to be the only thing that has kept you from being fired so far.
