I'm new to the forum.

I am interested in learning more about abandoned personal property in my home.

If someone leaves personal property in my home, how long am I still responcible for it? If I give it away, have I stolen it? If I claim it as my own, is that also considered theft? How long can someone leave items such as furniture in my home and it still be considered their property?

What measures must I make to make this persons property available to them?

Any insight would be appreciated.

By the way, this instance does not involve a person under lease. However I am curious to know if there would be a different result if they were a leased tenant.
