:( Please Let Me Know If It Is Illeagal To Not Be Given A Lunch Or A Break At Work When You Are Working An 8 Hour Day And Getting Overtime Because You Are Short Of Employees. This Is In Alabama. I Was Also Told That I Would Not Get A Lunch In Advance. The Company Would Buy Lunch And You Would Eat When You Had A Chance. Most Of The Time I Would Eat In The Closet Because I Could Not Get Away From My Customers. Please Let Me Know If I Have A Case Against This Company.

There is no Federal Law requiring employers to give breaks and lunch periods. However, there are STATE LAWS for several states but Alabama is not one of them.

Visit this site for the info on state requirements regarding this issue.

I wish you the best. It sounds like a difficult situation and seems hard to believe employers don't want the benefits from giving their employees a needed break.
