I just received a Notice of Termination of Lease from my landlord. I've been a tenant of a room in his duplex for 8 months and he wants to terminate the lease in one month. The lease is for one year, so it's an early termination requested by the landlord. The cause of the early termination is some conflict in life style between us, not any damage I caused. Now I'm wondering whether it's possible that he can ask for some compensation from my security deposit (or even more than that) due to the shortened lease term. Is there any legitamacy with this kind of action if it happens?
Really appreciate any imput!

You need to review your lease; it's possible that it contains language that says either side can terminate with 30 days' notice. You also need to review what the lease says about the security deposit.

There's only a "Breach of contract; early termination" in the lease, which states that if the tenant terminates the lease early, the landlord may withhold necessary amounts from the security deposit for lost Rent, rental commissions, advertising expenses and painting costs.
I think this doesn't apply to the situation where the termination is required by the landlord, right?

If there is no clause that allows Landlord to termiante lease early then he cannot force you to leave

Agree, he breached the contract, not you.
