Hey hardworking citizens,

I am writing this out of frustration from the Golden State EDD. I got laid off in November from a company I worked for 8 years and filed for UI benefit online just five days after I got a pink slip. I got approved and received two checks for the first week of December and two more weeks in December. After aggressive search for job in California in December, with no offer even for interview, I decided to move to Las Vegas to stay close with family members and keep looking for whatever job until things get better. Without any notice, the EDD stopped sending me the biweekly claim form. Though I tried hard to reach the 800 number for almost two weeks, I wasn't successful at all. After tirelessly trying different ways to reach the EDD, I couldn't get anyone who can explain me why they stopped sending me the claim form.

On 01/10/09, I sent an e-mail through their website and I got unofficial response that says an interview form is mailed to me from EDD to determine my eligibility. I haven't received this form even after 6 days since I received the unofficial response.

My question is can EDD review eligibility after approving UI benefit because a receipient moves out of state? Is moving out of state while looking for job is a reason for EDD to stop UI benefit?
How long does a mail from EDD take to reach Las Vegas?

I need your passionate advice and help.

Thanks.

Don't know why you weren't just filing your continued claims online. Your benefits should not stop just because you moved. However, I'm guessing the EDD just wants to find out WHY you moved; it's unlikely it will affect your benefits.

And November to December is not that long to job search in this economy and especially since many companies just don't hire during the holidays.
