I would like to know if there's an out for my son, He and a so called friend
of his signed a 12 month lease at an apartment complex, they have lived there
now for 3 months, and his friend just told him that he's leaving out for basic
training (Army Nat. Guard). He told my son he knew his deployment date
before they signed the lease, but just didn't think about it.
Well, long story short, He ships out the first week in Feb. leaving my
son holding the bag. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.

Find a new roommate. There's a lot of websites out there that will help you find a roommate that you can advertise the room on. Or, If your son's name isn't on the lease than he can move out without any legal responsibility for the property.

Also, you can take a look at the lease to see how you can break it. Or, If the landlord hasn't held up to his side of the bargain according to the lease agreement then most state's allow a tenant to legally break a lease.
