Myself and 2 other girls moved into a house in mid October 2008 and we signed a one year lease. The one girl found out in November that she would be losing her job at the end of the year. Myself and the other roommate have been trying to find a subleaser in the case that the 3rd roommate would have to move out, but we had no luck. The 3rd roommate has basically been out of the picture, not trying to help us find someone, or even trying to find a new job. Now she is claiming that she "doesn't feel like she is welcome in the house" and wants to move out without paying anymore rent. She left on a vacation this morning with no rent check in sight and rent is due on the 15th. What do we do? Myself and the other roommate have already decided that we are getting an apartment together, but we can't move in until mid March. We all signed the same lease. Can the landlord still hold us to the $1200/month even if the other girl bailed?

Yes. You are responsible for the rent as far as the landlord is concerned.

Your recourse is to sue the bailing roommate for her share of the rent.
