My ex-boyfriend asked me can he come stay here with me after being evicted from his previous room. I told him he can only stay for 90 days. He moved in my house in November and the agreement was that he would pay me $300 per month. He has not paid me any rent. I gave him a 30 day notice that I personally typed up and had notarized on Dec.31 and told him he had to leave by 1/31. He said he would but I don't believe it.

I checked with a police officer in Charlotte, NC and he said there is a freeloader law. Due to him not paying rent, paying any bills, contributing to any groceries or fixing anything in the house, I can put him out immediately.

Is this correct? Can I put him out immediately and ask the officer to arrest him when he leaves for driving without a license and having 2 outstanding warrants?

Please help me.

No, he's not correct.

If you know your boyfriend has outstanding warrants, what has stopped you from notifiying the authorities of his location? Oh...NOW you want to get rid of him...before, you didn't.

Sure, you can give the info to the authorities, just like you could have done at any time.

In order to get him out, you will have to LEGALLY have him evicted. I am assuming that you are not a tennant. If you are renting, then YOUR landlord would have to have him legally evicted.

I appreciate your response. However, I didn't find out about his warrants until Friday. I spoke with the police officer on Saturday. In answer to your response, I have been trying to get him out for a month now. I own this house and he is staying in my son's room.

Then you need to go through the legal steps to have him removed. As he now meets the definition of a tenant, that is your only option.

Your recourse as a landlord have nothing to do with his warrants. If you want to report his whereabouts, go ahead. Now, I have no way of knowing what the authorities will do with that information.
