I am located in California, back in 2005 I was notified by the company I work for that they would be consolidating my office and they offered us a few choices.

( A ) Move to another state to continue working in the same position.
( B ) A Benefits package
( C ) Locate a new position locally

I ended up taking option ( C ) and they placed me in a new position. My question is if I was notified in 2005 Do I have any protection if the same company is looking into layoffs in 2009 ?

Thanks
Mackie

You mean, does the fact that they placed you in a new position in 2005 mean that they cannot lay you off in 2009? No, it doesn't mean that. Not unless you have a legally binding contract or CBA that guarantees employment beyond 2009.
