I was fired on Friday & was told that the owner wasn't in the office & couldn't sign a final check for me. I have direct deposit & they intend to just direct deposit it, which will be a week after I was fired.

From what I read here (on another thread) they're required to give me my final check within 72 hours & pay me for any days beyond that, am I reading this right? I was not aware of the 72 hour thing when I said "sure, fine, whatever".

Also, I was told to go home the day before I was fired, does that figure anywhere into the 72 hours thingie?

You did post it as a reply post. However, we discourage posters from asking questions in someone else's thread. It's considered rude to hijack someone else's thread. So I moved your post into its own thread.

No, if you are discharged, the law requires that you be paid immediately. You can file a claim for the unpaid wages NOW and waiting time penalties, but until you actually get paid, you don't know how many days you might be entitled to. Although, the claim would probably take at least a few weeks to work its way through the system, and it sounds like you'll get at least your wages way before that. I do understand that waiting time penalties are not automatically granted, however.
