I recently got a job with an event staff company in Texas. I've completed my 3-month probation period and now my boss has been telling me I need to complete a licensing course to continue employment. My job will not change. I'll keep doing the same shows so why do I need this license and should I be paid work hours to complete the course? I'm guessing I would have to pay out of pocket the $60 or so for the course itself.
I don't know why this course is required if it has no bearing on my current position. Another coworker thinks it is to boost their portfolio of certified/licensed staff in the hopes of securing a new arena contract.
This is my first post so if I am out of line or repeated anything previously covered, please let me know.
