My lease started in September '09. Its a 9 month lease on the U of M campus and I am on my fourth month and I cannot stand living here anymore. The living conditions are horrible.

1. The water pipes are very very loud, the first time the person living above me turned on their faucet at night, I really thought someone was breaking into my apartment.

2. There is no warm water on a consistent basis and I have to take cold showers.

3. Often no parking spots in the lot when I was promised one. Also, on snow plow days they take 12 hours to plow the lot and the landlord suggests that I pay to park at the school for a day. One of the reasons I'm renting here and not commuting is so I wouldn't have to worry about parking at all much less pay to park.

4.There is no airblower above the stove so everytime I cook something I have to literally take some notebooks and fan the air out the window because the first time I cooked something, the fire alarm went off. What kind of kitchen doesnt have a blower now days?

5. Minor thing, bathroom door has a hole in it and no one has bothered to fix it.

Those are the reasons I think this is a poor living condition. I have put up with them for a long time, reason #3 just happend last week and that got me furious and wanting to terminate my lease. I have paid my rent on time each month.

I have read over my lease and there is no type of early termination clause on it at all.

What should I do?
Do I have a good reason to terminate my lease early?

thanks

Your best bet is to try to transfer to another unit, one with better plumbing. Your student adviser should be able to point you in the right direction.

Life is like this. I have lived in many places that make the one you are in sound good. Try living in a neighborhood where you need to sleep with a loaded gun because of the people in the next apartment are dealing drugs, and have constant traffic 24/7.

Take it to the building inspector.
