Hi- Im due in March. I've read all over the Florida laws about maternity leave. My work doesn't offer maternity leave & Only has staff of 25 people. I talked to my boss today and she told me that after I have the baby I most likely won't have a job due to someone getting my position filled. Since I don't fall under the labor law with how many people I work with is there anything I can do? Can I file for unemployment or anything since I will not have a job due to me having a family.

Just one question; if you were out for the same length of time with a broken leg or pneumonia, what would happen?

As long as they would treat the situation the same no matter what the medical condition, it is legal for them to fire you. You will qualify for UI once you are medically cleared to return to work. You will not be able to collect while you are medically unable to work.
