My wife has worked for a small fashion company for about 15 months.
She has put her all into this company. Travelling to LA, Milan, Vegas trade shows etc etc.
We foud out we were pregnant over the summer, and she told her company that she was pregnant.
They congratulated her, and then a month later, she was laid off after an ex boss who was fired in April was rehired.
There are 2 other eployess who have not been released.
The reason for releasing her was put as resizing the company.
Since telling her this, they have had people in to expand the showroom, and they have even had people in for interviews.
My wife has over the last month, before finding out she was being released, sought information about the company's maternity benefits, only to be completely ignored.
It was shortly after requesting this information that she was released.
I think we have a clear case of discrimination on pregnancy grounds, and we have sought advice from a lawyer.
does anyone have any experience of this, and as such, could they offer us any help ? My wife is extremely upset, and doesn;t want to confront the company, and would rather just let a lawyer deal with it...but I think she should confront them.
any adivce ?
