My boyfriend was terminated a few weeks ago but usually they give you a green slip to sign but he never got one. The store manager just said you are terminated and get out of my store. My boyfriend doesn't even know why he was fired.....Is there some sort of law or policy on how they terminate someone.
He signed up for unemployment and talked to the agency and they asked to get out his green slip and he said he never got one and they thought that was really weird. The only thing he can think of as to what they would have put down for termination would be sexual harrasment, because a girl he sent home for cusing at him got her friends to call in and accuse him of stuff that he never did. Non of it really was sexaul harrasment except one they accused him of but he thinks he got fired for their retaliation and because they might have put that down for the reason of termination, it will cause him to be disqualified from unemployment benefits. Is this true, and if so is it worth fighting?
I'm sure any company is going to try to not have to pay the unemployment, so is it common for them to try to scare you away from it by appealing your unemployment the first time around? I guess what im trying to get at is did they even follow proper procedures to terminate him and can that be held against them to help him get his benefits?
