My buddy just moved into an apartment in Davis and took his cat with him. When he signed the lease it said cats are okay with a deposit as long as they are fixed (cat is fixed, have papers to prove it).
He went to give them a deposit and they made him get rid of his cat right then and there. They said even though it is in the lease, it's just a "general lease" and at that specific apartment complex they don't allow any pets under any circumstances.
Is that legal for them to put something like that in their lease even though it shouldn't be there? It probably won't be fought, but I'm curious to know if landlords can do this.
