At my place of employment mondays and wednesdays we have to be there at 6-615 for uniform dropoff and pickup. Mondays we are suppose to start at 630 (paid time) Tuesday-Friday We don't get paid til 7am, however we are required to be there by 630 and also considered late if not. By 630-645 we are intarping equipment and hitting the road towards the gas station in the work trucks and getting gas for the equipment. So we are technically working before 7am. Shouldn't we be getting paid from the time we start getting equipment ready or at least by the time we're heading down the road in the work truck?

You have a good argument. I am not saying that the government will certainly agree with you. The federal DOL has shown great ability to slice and dice this issue beyond the ability of theological experts to follow their logic, but you do have a good argument. There have been federal DOL opinions on either side of pretty much any argument one can think of in this area.

You might want to look at the following factsheet. The general rules are discussed there.
