I was working for a temp agency in Middletown at a local warehouse. We were working 12 hour shifts and received only 2 breaks 4 hours apart. They paid us for these 30 minute breaks so we were not allowed to leave. Isn't there a limit on how many hours you work before you get a break? 4 hours seems excessive to me. Then after working there for 2 weekends at $11 an hour, the temp rep said we were only getting paid $9.25 an hour. How is this legal? There were no demotions, nor did anyone sign any paperwork. When I asked the rep about it he said it was because Ohio is an at will state and that it was never in writing. Doesn't at will apply to your employment status, and wasn't in writing as soon as I received a paycheck? Lastly, who do you contact about the lack of laws to protect employees? Thanks!

Neither Federal nor Ohio law requires any breaks at all.

BTW, there is no state where breaks are required more frequently than one every four hours.

It is not illegal to reduce your pay on a go forward basis as long as you get pd. at least min. wage or unless you have an employment contract or CBA to the contrary. They just can't reduce your pay for hours already worked.
