i am laid off and moved away from the area while collecting unemployment. when i am recalled can i still collect unemployment while i look for work even though i will have to resign my position due to an excessively long commute (~180 miles each way)? thanks!

If I am understanding you correctly, you are asking if the unemployment commission will continue to pay you commuting expenses after you are recalled to work.

If that is the question, the answer is no, they will not. It is not the "fault" of your employer that you relocated.

If that is not the question, please clarify.

not quite what i was asking. i'll try again.

i am currently laid off and recently relocated. when i am recalled to work i will have to resign my position because a 180 mile commute is absurd. will my resignation disqualify me from receiving unemployment compensation?

Maybe, maybe not. Only the state can make that decision. The problem you may face is that you moved out of the area while you were on furlough. That could be interpreted as unwillingness to return to work when recalled.
