I turned in my letter of resignation giving my employer two weeks notice, my employer accepted it, and made it effective on the same day I turned it in. I know that I cannot get unemployment and I am not expecting it. But, my father said I may be eligible for something called the Garden Leave Act but I cannot find any information on it. Even if it is not applicable, I would like to know what the law says.

Has anyone heard of this? Can you explain it?

Never heard of it. What is it supposed to provide?

You MAY be eligible for UI for the period between your actual last day worked and what it would have been had you been allowed to work out your notice (less any waiting period that may apply in your state).

LOL! I guess (because my father isn't always clear) it requires employer to pay employees for the time between their last actual day of work and the last day they agreed to work in their letter of resignation.

I did call the UI office and the representative said the same thing. BUT, they require that I register with Michigan Talent Bank which requires me to show up in person. The problem is, I am moving to FL next Monday and won't be able to show up in person.
