Is there such a thing as being able to sue a company for wrongful discharge and deframation of character in michigan. The company is not really large , but they really treat their employees bad. I was offered a settlement and a contract to sign so i would not sue them for any reason. Can I still file a claim if it is possible?

Thanks

Have you signed the settlement agreement? If not, you need to have it reviewed by a local attorney before doing so. A settlement agreement means that you are agreeing not to pursue future legal action.

Bear in mind that being offered a settlement agreement does not necessarily mean that you have a viable case should the case come to court. It could mean that the company feels that it's more cost-effective to offer a settlement than to incur the expense of going to court, even if the company were to prevail.

Bottom line, you need to consult a local attorney.

Yes i did sign the settlement. I felt at that moment in time and in shock i had no choice. but after time and really thinking about I felt I did the wrong thing or i should of asked for more.

But thank you very much for your information, it was helpful.
