During 2 pay periods i will be working 12 days in a row.. atleast 9 hours each day..

am i entitled to overtime pay as my base pay for each day after 7? i thought i heard that somewhere..

the way it works is i'll be aug 24th through sept 4th straight.
the company i work for has their pay period divided from the 1st to the 15th, 16th til the end of the week..

How should this work? with 12 days straight and the pay period division?

thank you!

The key is when the work week starts and ends and that will always be a specific day and time, like midnight on Sunday. The pay period dates are not relevant since any pay period will have all or parts of two or three different work weeks in them.

You could work twelve consecutive days with six in one work week and six in the next and not run afoul of California's laws.

Agreed. CA OT rules. (http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQ_Overtime.htm)

Also, take a look at California's Eight-Hour-Day-Restoration and Workplace Flexibility Act of 1999 (the Act), it requires employers to pay workers at one and a half times the normal rate if they work more than eight hours in a day or more than six days in any workweek. Additionally, workers are entitled to double pay after working 12 hours in a day.

The seventh day law provides OT for the first eight hours worked on the seventh consecutive day of work in a workweek, and double for all hours worked in excess of eight on the seventh consecutive day of work in a workweek.

DAW has a good post on the issue:
