My daughter worked for a pizza place for 2 years since she was 14. The employer decided to close shop without really specifying why, which crushed the people that worked there because they were small and close. Her 2nd to last paycheck bounced. She contacted her former employer and he said he would pay it. Several weeks went by and she contacted him again and he said he was sorry he was having some financial issues but he would send it in a week or two. After a couple of weeks she tried contacting him again this time he wouldn't return or her calls so I called. No response so I sent a certified letter requesting payment. No response, then she got a text message from him saying to take him to court. He filed bankruptcy and thier lawyer said there was nothing we could do about it and the lawyer told him NOT to pay my 16 year old daughter! It was only $85 for crying out loud. Morally he is bankrupt...however what can we do? It's a bounced check do those laws apply? Could we have him arrested? Do we have to go to small claims court for restitution? At this point I just want to prove a point. Especially since he told her 2 times he would make good on it.
Thanks for any advice.
