I was offered a promotion in January the pay was to be $16.00/ hour. I was also given the option to turn the promotion down, and if i didnt want it everything would stay as it was. The promotion was from supervisor to assistant manager. I turned down the promotion and stayed at my rate of $11.25. My work week was M-F weekends off. If I took the promotion I would have to work 2 weekends a month, if not everything would stay the same. I turned the promotion down. A few weeks later I was told I had to work 2 weekend days a month. A month or so after that I found another job and turned in my notice. The manager talked me into staying I got a 50 cent raise and reassurance that I would only have to work 2 weekend days a month. A few weeks after that I was told I had to work 2 Full weekends a month. Now I have to do everything that was intitled in the assistant managers position at supervisors wages. Is there anything I can do? Everytime i try to speak up there is a supervisor meeting a few days later, and i am punished once again. Oh not to mention the hours of work i have to do at home for free. Please if there is anything you can tell me i would greatly appreciate it. After almost 14 years i despise going in to work. I forgot to mention there are 2 other people that have the same title as me but I am required to do the majority of the work.

I agree that it doesn't sound fair, but unless you have an enforceable contract that limits the hours/days you can work, it isn't illegal.

What is illegal is for you to be performing work (at home or anywhere else) that you are not paid for. For that time, you can file a claim for unpaid wages with the state Dept. of Labor.

i agree the weekend thing is not illegal, but what about making me do the managers job with only supervisors pay

There is no law requiring that they increase your pay when they increase your responsibilities.
