There is really no way to make this long story short because in order to get a better understanding of why I'm asking the question all details need to be included. On Saturday night, my 17 yr old son who has a parttime job @ a restuarant was working until closing. Usually when he closes, I expect him home around 12:30am. He's a new driver so he usually calls me when he is enroute to the house. This particular night, I didn't receive a call and now I understand why. Somehow he and his 16 yr old friend kicked up a scheme where the 16 yr old boy told his mom that he would be staying the night at my home(without my knowledge). Instead of my son coming home directly from work, he and his friend decided to pick up a couple of girls and brought them back to my house. From the story the boys told us, they were sitting out back by the pool just "talking". This is all happening sometime between the hours of 1-4am. Of course @ this time of night I'm sleeping so I'm oblivious to everything that is going on. Around 4am they decide to take these girls home. My son knew he couldn't take my vehicle so they pile 4 teens into the 16yr old boy's truck that is actually meant to fit 3. While they are driving they get into a car accident causing property damage to 3 homes. Thank God no one was seriously injured or killed. My question is, is there any liability to me because they were at my home although it was without my permission? I didn't okay anyone to stay over my home and I had no idea about any of the events until I received the call at 4:30a from EMS that my son was involved in an accident.

Depends on who was driving (like Jeff said), who owns the truck, and what the property owners decide to do.

So your only involvement was the fact that these kids had left your home prior to the accident? Did your son do something to cause the accident? Was alcohol involved?

Why the Hades were their 4 sets of parents who had no idea where their minor children were at 4 AM?? Assuming you ever let the kid see the light of day (or dark of night) again before he turns 21, I'd be waiting up for him from now on. Teenagers do stupid things. Even very bright ones. I work with teens and it is truly amazing to me some of the stunts these otherwise brilliant little darlings pull.

How were the houses "damaged"?

Legally, with the little bit of info available, I have no idea who's liable.
