No. If one parent has a higher income, expect a transfer of some funds to the other parent. The support, however, should be lower than an order determined by the child support guidelines.

State courts typically use child support guidelines to determine who pays support and in what amount. Certain expenses are usually divided between the parents such as healthcare and childcare. Most courts also typically will give the parents joint custody of the child with one parent receiving primary physical custody and the other liberal visitation, vacation time and other regular contact with the child.
