I am a manager at a fast food restraunt. They want me gone because I go to college and they say I don't care about the job. I just got threatened and told that by my district manager that if he was running the store that I would not be a manager and he would fire me right now. before all this was happening I was getting about 37 hours a week and working 5 days a week. now for the past 3 weeks I have been working 3 days a week and only getting 20 hours. I was wondering if this is against any labor laws and if they can actually do this to me. Would this be considered underemployment? Should I go talk to a lawyer about this or possibly file a complaint with the state. What can I do to get my hours back until I find a new job.

There is no law that is going to require the employer to reinstate your hours. You can file for UI due to the drastic cut in your hours; whether you will get it or not is up to the state. On the other hand, the employer could have just fired you outright.

What law do you think was violated so that a consultation with a lawyer would even be necessary?

The employer can give you as many or as few hours at it wants. Given the above statement, the employer should be looking to replace you fast. I would.

I was wondering if this is against any labor laws No.

and if they can actually do this to me. Yes.

Would this be considered underemployment? I don't know what you mean by underemployment, but underemployment as is generally meant by the term is not illegal.

Should I go talk to a lawyer about this You can if you want to but unless there is far more to your story than you have shared, you're most likely wasting your time and money.

or possibly file a complaint with the state. Same as above

What can I do to get my hours back until I find a new job. Nothing. No law guarantees you any particular number of hours.
