If I have an employee thats been told to come in at 1500hrs (his scheduled shift) and he comes in at 1445 and clocks in, putting himself on the clock and I go into SAP and change his "clock in" time to 1500hrs; have I broken the law by taking that 15min. from him???

Thank you for the direction!!! It is much appreciated.
The important issue is not when the employee clocked in, but whether or not work was actually being done. You can fire an employee for doing unauthorized work, but you cannot avoid paying them.

The poor guy is showing up on-time. Be happy for that. Geeze, it's like the poor employees can't do anything right.
Employers are so annoying.

He can "show up" early. He doesn't have to clock in as soon as he shows up. Why should employers pay for time not worked?
