Hi,

I have signed a non compete agreement and i am confused about some statements of it. The following is the statement:
..obtaining employment with a client or customer with which the company has a contractual or proprietary relationship, the employee agrees to compensate the company in an amount equivalent to 30% of the employee's gross salary which was last in effect during his or her employment with the company.

What is gross salary means in above statement? They have not mentioned about gross salary in entire agreement document. They have mentioned annual salary at one place and two months salary at other place. But they have not mentioned any gross salary. Since they have not mentioned any annual gross salary or monthly gross salary in above statement. Could anyone please specify what does that mean? Thanks

creation82 - it's always best to take a non-compete agreement to an employment or contract attorney in your area for review & advise. Since we can't read the entire agreement, we really can't comment on it. (It seems they are talking gross salary (salary before any deductions) as opposed to net salary but run it by an attorney.)
