Will my wife be eligible for any type of benifits when she is out of work for childbirth? Can she get short term disibility? She works at a privetly owned doctors office. The office does not offer her any benifits. Thanks, Steve

What type of benefits?
North Carolina is not one of the handful of states that requires employers to offer disability insurance/has a state disability insurance plan. So, unless you have opted to take disability insurance from either of your employers, she will not be eligible for any disability payments that might replace her salary while she is out.
If you're asking about unemployment, a person has to be actively looking for work and able to accept it in order to collect unemployment, because unemployment is not intended to be a replacement for disability insurance.
If you're asking about health insurance, if you haven't put her on your plan at work, then you needs to contact social services to see if she is eligible for state-fund insurance such as Medicaid.
