I am a school teacher in Tx and have been given orders not to return to work for 2.5 months or more. It is due to stress, a heart condition, and pregnancy. I had an episode where I had to be brought to the hospital, etc. and have not been allowed back to work since (by drs orders).

The employer has not done anything illegal, but I am wondering about Texas' short term disability laws or compensation. I do not have any disability insurance, but am currently getting paid $0 and have a tremendous amount of medical bills. Does anybody know about STD in Texas? Or would this be strictly maternity?
