I found a new job last year around this time, and the employer paid my moving expenses and I got a bonus. I signed an acceptence letter saying that if I quit or was terminated before my year anniversary that I would pay back the moving expenses and bonus ($7,000).
Well, this was not the best move for me or my career. I have been unhappy because my boss is a jerk. I have never been so miserable. Anyway, I've been at my job for 6 weeks less than a year, and I expect my boss is going to fire me. Maybe even as soon as tomorrow.
I also moved sooner than I wanted to (I was still in my Master's program when I left and therefore didn't get reimbursed for my tuition from my previous employer. I figured to just use my bonus for that)
Question is, will I have to pay back the $7,000 with only 6 more weeks to go?!? I moved all the way to Arkansas from Michigan. Does that not count for anything? Do I have any recourse to have the $7000 pro-rated?
