I have 6 1/2 days of carryover vacation from 2007. I was told that I must take all carryover vacation by the last full week of April 2008. If not I will lose days and pay. Does Alaska have any labor law to require a company to pay for unused vacation? I'm a hourly employee.

They don't appear to, no. Hmmm, forced time off with pay. I'd take that in a New York minute. ;)

Alaska has no law that prohibits a vacation "use it or lose it" policy.

If the employer agreed to the carryover policy he has to live up to it.It falls under good faith and fair dealing. Alaska courts broadened the scope of the implied covenant beyond the specific expectations of the contracting parties. Even more so than the California courts have,by "failing to treat similarly situated employees alike." Under Jones v. Central Peninsula Gen. Hosp., 779 P.2d 783, 789 n.6 (Alaska 1989) however "interpretation of the implied covenant demands a greater factual inquiry into the expectations of the parties, not a standard definition that an employer must treat all similarly-situated employees alike". So contact an attorney to see if you have cause under Jones.
