My company requires hourly employees to wear a company issued polo shirt while on duty. The shirts have the company name and logo on them. The company requires me to wear the polo shirts that they provide, but deduct $17 per shirt, from my paycheck . They also deducted $5 for my nametag, which is also required as part of the uniform. Each time I need a shirt or nametag, they make me sign a paper showing I received the item, and what the price is. The supervisor that actually orders the uniforms told me that the company's cost per shirt is $14.50 each. Not only do we have to pay for the shirts, it seems the company may be making a small profit on each one. Is this legal? Shouldn't they have to pay for the shirts? I would never wear it outside of work.

What you are saying is legal under federal law. CO is not my state and I will have to defer those laws (if any) to another responder.
