We have called our landlord numerous times for things around our house we rent from him that need to be fixed or replaced. It has been well over a month now since we first contacted him. Tell me if I am correct but in Illinois isn't there a law that says the landlord has 30 days to fix it? And if the landlord does nothing about it, can't the tenant go out and get someone to do it and have it billed to the landlord? Where can I find laws for landlords and tenants? Thanks!!!

All the laws I have found pertain to palces with 5 or more units. We rent a house.....are the laws the same or are there different ones (if there are where can I find them?) Thanks!!!!

Send the Landlord a certified letter. Your "calls" can be disputed. Once he gets the certified letter you wil have a date he was notified. Be sure you reread your lease agreement as well and make sure the repairs are covered under lease agreement

Check for local laws. Landlord-tenant legislation usually occurs on a county or municipal level.
