Hi, first time on this forum, hoping that someone can help with a rather complicated question.
My brother is in a NJ apartment under Section 8 Housing. My father had to co-sign the lease (for financial reasons) because of previous problems my brother has had with rentals. (a long story) I believe, however, that it is just my brother's name on the lease.
My brother has been in the hospital for several days due to a fall. He's due to come home on 12/29. When my father went to check on his apartment it was bolted shut - from the inside. A "girlfriend" was there. She opened the door and my father promptly told her to leave. According to the lease, only my brother is allowed to live there. She claimed she was "watching the place." My father had the locks changed, but that may not stop her from getting a copy of the new keys.
Does my father have any legal ground to have the girl evicted under NJ law? My brother is a complete moron but the girl is a bad seed and needs to go.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any advice.
