I recently moved from my apartment were I had lived for 3years.The apartment was left in good condition. I was expecting to receive my security deposit back(at least some of it) when i received a letter assessing the damages. $67.00 for a shower head, $40.00 for a missing screen and $600.00 for carpet replacement. I think this is crazy being as though the carpet was left in good condition. There was one stain and other than that normal wear and tear. I could live with a fee for carpet cleaning, but replacement fee is crazy. Especially since they replace all carpet after each tenant moves. I did take pictures of the apartment when i left but the angles are off and you can`t really see the carpet. The letter that was sent does not state why the carpet needs to be replaced only the cost of replacement. I was told by another landlord that after 3 years most carpet damage is considered wear and tear. Is this true? Can i sue them for the return of my deposit or should i just let it go? please help i need some advice.
