OK this is the deal we moved in to home in August and starting in September we have asked that the heater be fixed It dose not work at all we were using space heaters and all five of us were sleeping in one room to stay warm the landlords keeps telling us that they don't have the money to fix it so I told them I would have it fixed and I would take it out of our rent they said I could not do so and have been getting a run around so we moved out due to not having a heater we live in Colorado and it gets very cold I feel with three kids it my responsibility to make sure they stay warm and safe so that's what I did was I in the wrong for moving out what grounds do I have if this goes to court?
Also I had post dated her to checks one for 600 and one for 700 which was to pay for November rent I wrote her a letter the end of October stating she was not to cash those checks as we had a company garnish our checking account so there was no money in there I told her I would give her cash or make a deposit into her account she said she would make sure the checks were disposed of properly well I checked our bank account on November 29and she deposited the checks and now my account is overdrawn do I have any grounds on this matter?

2. What does the lease agreement say regarding appliance failure?

Get the building inspector out there. It's usually a rental code violation.
